COOL CREW — Lake Road Elementary School students (from left) Ella Cagle, Brea Martin, Janie Roberts and Kaleigh Hall reacted to the cold water as they took the plunge Saturday during the 8th Annual Polar Plunge, which raised over $20,300 for local Special Olympics. There were about 100 “plungers,” including several which jumped as large groups. The eight girl athletes who comprised the school’s LRS Team Spirit raised more than $900 for Special Olympics. They were split into two groups for the chilly dip into a pool at Aloha Pools and Spas in Union City. The air temperature was 36 degrees at the time, while the water temperature was 45 degrees.
