Ray Roney

Ray Roney, 91, of Union City went to be home with the Lord with wife, Edna, of 70 years and family by his side, Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at Union City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home.
Private family services will be held on Thursday, with burial to follow in the East View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Roney, T. Jay Warner, Ryan Collins, Seth Prather, Eric Hill and Ronnie Roney.
He was born Sept. 1, 1927, in the Protemus-Dixie community, son of the late John Thomas and Maggie (Barnes) Roney. He married Edna (Wilson) Roney May 21, 1948. She survives.
He was a farmer, land owner and entrepreneur. He attended First United Pentecostal Church in Union City, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge Tyre No. 587, a Master Mason for over 50 years, was the Union City Golden Gloves Champion in 1945 and 1946, and he previously served on the former Obion County General Hospital board.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Roney of Union City; one son, Randy (Lisa) Roney of Union City; two daughters, Shirley (Don) Gower and Suzanne (Dale) Collins, both of Franklin; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters, Alfred Roney, J.T. Roney, Hugh Roney, Paul Neal Roney, Gene Roney, Mary Roney Smith, Ruth Roney Williams, Fannie Earl Roney Jones and Marie Roney Townsley.
