Mary Lois Jordan Owens

Mrs. Mary Lois (Pearson) Jordan Owens, 93, of Union City passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, in Union City.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Friday at White-Ranson Fun-eral Home, with Dr. Cecil Sewell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale, Miss.
A visitation will also be from 12:30 p.m. until time to leave for the cemetery on Saturday at Meredith Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale.
Pallbearers will be Shane Jordan, Kameron Jordan, Brian McGimsey, Eli Jordan, Skipper White, Les Leatherman, Rocky Johnson and Andrew Blair.
She was born in Eupora, Miss., on Jan. 8, 1926, daughter of the late Preston Felto and Gennie Lois (Crick) Pearson. She was the second of seven children.
She graduated from Eupora Consolidated High School in 1944 and Blue Mountain College in 1948. She worked as a home economist for Arkansas and Missouri Power Company and later for Continental Baking Co. before buying and operating a family furniture and gift store in Clarksdale.
In addition to raising three successful sons, she was active in the PTA, President of the Women’s Club of Clarksdale and a member of the American Association of University Women, the Garden Club, and the Homemaker’s Club.
After several years of friendship, she married Leroy Owens in 1985. Mary Lois and Leroy loved to travel. Together, they traveled to all 50 states and over 25 foreign countries, including China, Japan and the Holy Land.
Mary Lois and Leroy moved to Union City in 2002 to be near their son Rob. In Union City, they joined First Baptist Church, where they formed many lifelong friendships. She served as president of the Third Review Club of Union City and participated in the FCE.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy Owens; her son, Dr. Rob (Stacy) Jordan; two brothers, J.W. Pearson and John Leslie Pearson; a sister, Marjorie Pearson Hestor; grandsons, Shane (Emily) Jordan, Kameron (Anna) Jordan and Eli Jordan; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Jordan (Brian) McGimsey.  She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Jordan; two sons, J. Lyn Jordan and Russell Jordan; her stepmother, Lottie Pearson; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Permelia and Felix Ingram and Martha and Rob Rob Montgomery; her brother and sister-in-law, Felto and Bonnie Pearson; sisters-in-law, Linda Clark and Rose Pearson; and a brother-in-law, Frank Hestor.
