Barbara Jean (Hill) McAlister, 82, of Franklin, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, in the presence of family.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Valley Baptist Church in Franklin.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the church.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oak Valley Baptist Church for The Blanket Ministry and Agape Knitters.
She was born Feb. 6, 1936, in Chattanooga, daughter of the late Henry Martin and Reita (King) Hill. She was a homemaker and was also employed at Grace’s Shoppe for Ladies in Green Hills.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting, playing bridge and her precious dogs. She was a member of Oak Valley Baptist Church in Franklin and will be remembered for her kind and compassionate spirit and her infectious smile.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynne Knight of Union City and Anne (James) Bruce of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; one son, Don (Patti) McAlister of Warsaw, Va.; three grandsons, Christopher (Maddy) Knight of Troy, and Mac Bruce and Bennett Bruce, both of Mount Pleasant; one stepgranddaughter, Crystal Garvey of northern Virginia; one stepgrandson, Josh Wolf of Dumfries, Va.; one great-granddaughter, Adeline Knight of Troy; and stepgreat-granddaughters, Skylar Geohering and Danielle Garvey of northern Virginia and Anna, Audrey and Gracie Wolf, all of Dumfries.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Gardenhire, Virginia Siler and Henrietta Hixson; and one brother, Jack Hill.
