WINTER WEATHER READY — Annie Pitts (left) of Troy and Deloma Pitts of Hornbeak, representing DD’s Diner in Hornbeak, were ready for the winter weather dressed as penguins who love the cold weather during Troy’s Christmas parade on Saturday. Initially, the weather forecast called for rain, sleet and snow, so parade organizers postponed the parade until Tuesday. But, after meteorologists changed their forecast away from the messy wintry precipitation, parade officials decided to go ahead as scheduled. The decision was made after press time on Friday. A slight freezing rain started just before the parade began, but it didn’t stop area residents from turning out to participate and to line the parade route. The last Christmas parade in the county for the year is scheduled in Hornbeak Friday at 7 p.m., with lineup at 6.
