SUSPECT ARRAIGNED

SUSPECT ARRAIGNED — Thomas Christopher Morton of Union City stood before the judge Monday afternoon in the courtroom at the Obion County Law Enforcement Complex for arraignment on charges of criminal homicide, especially aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence. The charges stem from the death of 43-year-old Pedro Ernesto Arriaga, who was found dead Oct. 20 in his home in the 5200 block of the Ken-Tenn Highway near South Fulton. At Monday’s arraignment, Obion County General Sessions Judge Jimmy Smith scheduled Morton’s preliminary hearing for Nov. 30 at 10 a.m. and appointed the public defender’s office to represent him. Morton, 34, continues to be held without bond at the county jail.
