Mrs. Velma Juanita Jernigan Pugh, 91, a lifelong resident of the Midway community, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Union City Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in East View Cemetery, with the Rev. Melvin Poe officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Johnson, Mike Haynes, Mark McCollough, Bill Thompson, Burnie Powers and David Townes.
The family requests memorials be made to Stanley Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was born April 17, 1927, in Midway, daughter of the late Buena Vista Ray and Oseola (Ford) Jernigan. She married William Darnell Pugh June 4, 1950, and he passed away Feb. 8, 1986.
She was a homemaker and a member of Gardner Church of Christ. She loved all people and the Obion County Fair.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Pugh of Memphis; one son and his life partner, Woody Pugh and Donna Cloar of Union City; a grandson, Brandon Pugh of Humboldt; a nephew, Hal Jernigan of Union City; and a great-niece, Kristi Jernigan Townes; and her family of Union City.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hunter Ray Jernigan and Harold Neil Jernigan.
