AT THE TOP — Firefighters Sammy Morris Sr. (left) and Justin McMaster, both of the Rives Volunteer Fire Department, took a short rest to catch their breaths in the Tower at Discovery Park of America before they resumed the 9/11 Memorial Climb at midday Saturday. They were among 43 firefighters from across the area who made the climb to remember the 343 New York City firefighters who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The firefighters — in full gear and carrying some sort of firefighting tool — climbed the 12 flights of stairs 10 times to represent the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. (Editor’s note: The Messenger will publish additional photos from the climb later this week.)
