The Healthy Living Expo and Color Fun Run on July 9 at the Martin Housing Authority’s Green Space in Martin provided children, youth and adults with the opportunity to learn about living smoke free. The MHA, Weakley County Health Department and the Weakley County Prevention Coalition, sponsors of the event, started the day with tobacco facts which were soon illustrated during a Chalk the Walk activity. (Khari Webb Jones shows her takeaway message in the photo at right.) The MHA is now officially smoke free on all its properties.
Almost 70 people attended the informative day which featured exhibits and giveaways from vendors Carey Counseling, Moore Dental Office, the Regional Overdose Prevention Specialist and the Northwest Local Food Network.
More photos are available on the Weakley County Prevention Coalition’s Facebook page including those capturing the children’s reaction to seeing the difference between a tobacco-free lung and one of a heavy smoker using the lungs of pigs hooked up to pipes to help them “breathe.”
