Carl Perkins Center Sets Fundraising Record

The 14th Annual Gala in support of Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse for Obion and Weakley counties set a fundraising record on Saturday night as they raised $30,389 through table sales, auctions and donations. The event drew close to 250 people donning their formal attire for a night at Discovery Park of America that included dinner, music, dancing, and, of course, fundraising. A silent auction of items donated from friends of the Center and local businesses combined with a live auction with Marvin Alexander at the helm helped add to the atmosphere of a community coming together for a great cause. Staff from the Center took on the additional responsibilities of event planning. Shown at left are (from left) Jennifer Gilbertson, family advocate; Britan Coleman, AmeriCorps; Bett Jewell, Center director; Laura Burpo, clinical therapist; and Amber Alsup, victim’s advocate. (Officer Manager Debbie Hopper was staffing the registration table.)
