GOING GREEN — Four-year-old Faith Molands (right) watched classmate Charlee Beth Smith, 5, to see how well she liked her green eggs and ham before she decided whether to sample them herself during an activity this morning in Union City Elementary School teacher Kim Taylor’s pre-kindergarten class. The class voted 16-4 that they did like green eggs and ham. They were served the special treat after hearing their teacher read the Dr. Seuss book “Green Eggs and Ham” as part of this week’s Read Across America festivities. The event is held annually to mark the birthday of children’s author Theodor Geisel, who wrote under the pen name Dr. Seuss. Schools, daycares and libraries across Obion County and across the nation held special reading activities all week.
