CARRYING ON — Ryan Hepler of Union City, a city carrier with the Union City Post Office, trudged through the snow in a yard on Sheridan Drive, just off Oak Street, as he delivered mail along his route Wednesday afternoon. The U.S. Postal Service motto — “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds” — has added significance on days when carriers make their deliveries in the snow and other wintry conditions. Obion County received a first round of snow Friday and a second blast Monday into Tuesday, with cold temperatures allowing the snow to linger for days.
