FEEDING TIME — Reelfoot Lake State Park seasonal ranger Brandon Weber of Tiptonville, a student at the University of Tennessee at Martin, worked with a Great Horned Owl named Cypress last week inside Ellington Hall at the Reelfoot Lake State Park Visitors Center getting him to fly to a perch where he was fed. Weber said this is done to prepare him for upcoming bird of prey events. He said Cypress was found when he was young in one of the communities along Highway 45 and brought to the state park. The next bird of prey exhibition is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday. Park staff will introduce the injured raptors that call Reelfoot Lake home. They will educate the public on raptor importance to the ecology and economy of this area.
