AND THE WINNER IS …

AND THE WINNER IS … — Kyle Dugger of Troy, who captured this photograph of Falls Mill in Belvidere with a Panasonic DMC0G5, has had his image selected as the Photo of the Month for images submitted to The Messenger in December. It shows the 1906, 32-foot Fitz water wheel which provides power to Falls Mill. Water is fed through the mill race from a dam upstream. The mill houses the Museum of Power and Industry. The second floor has a country store and a weaving room with many examples of early spinning wheels, hand looms and power looms. There is also a bed and breakfast cabin on the premises. The Messenger is currently accepting entries for the January contest. The winning photo will be published on the front page the following month. To submit a photo for entry, email the image to ucdm@ucmessenger.com with the subject line “Photo Contest.” Emailed images should be no smaller than five inches wide and 300 dpi for the best reproduction. Be sure to include the photographer’s name, address and daytime phone number, as well as where the photograph was made, what kind of camera it was taken with and a brief explanation of the photograph. The deadline for each contest month will be the last day of the month.
