A TRUE GIFT — Volunteers are the lifeline that allow Reelfoot Rural Ministries to help those in need. Workers are needed all year long, not just around Christmas time. While they believe they have enough volunteers for the Christmas Toy Shop this year, there are always opportunities to volunteer throughout the year in the food bank, senior center and other Reelfoot Rural Ministries programs. Volunteers (from left) Layne Smith, Pat Carpenter and Darqueta Rines, who all attend Center United Methodist Church of Newbern, pitched in to help sort and label toy donations for the Christmas Toy Store at the Reelfoot Rural Ministries office near Obion. The deadline to turn in toys for the Christmas Toy Shop is noon Saturday at the Reelfoot Rural Ministries office. The store will open Monday to those with a scheduled appointment.
