Janet Jones

Janet Gail Jones, 58, of Memphis gently slipped away and entered God’s eternal care Nov. 11, 2017.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ in Memphis.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
R.S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home in Memphis is in charge of arrangements.
Known as “Auntie” and “Mee Mee” by those who knew and loved her, she was born on July 1, 1959, in Memphis, daughter to the late A.J. Jones Sr. and the late Mary A. Mitchell Jones. She was a 1979 graduate of Mitchell High School and attended Shelby State College.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Church of God In Christ as a child, but at the time of her passing she was a member of Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ where she was a member of the Young Women’s Christian Council and former member of the choir. She had also sung with gospel artist O’Landa Draper and the Associates as part of the choir.
She made frequent trips to Union City to visit pastor Richard Johnson and Greater Bethel Church. She was also a certified adoptive and foster parent.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her daughters, Kenoisha Jones, Kierra Jones and Kaitlyn Jones, all of Memphis; her son, Robert Jones of Memphis; her grandchildren, Shiloh Jones, Kennedy Jones, Fenix Smith and Rotarrios DeShields; her godson, Jonathan Clayton; three sisters, Carolyn Childs, Joyce (Michael) Thomas and Nikecia Jones; five brothers, A.J. (Peggy) Jones Jr. of Memphis, Michael E. (Christy) Jones of Las Vegas, Glenn (Miki) Jones of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Wendell (Consolacion) Jones of Spain and Santa Clarita, Calif., and Dewayne (LaRisa) Mitchell; her great-uncle, Jerry Miles of California; two aunts, Murlene Mitchell of Pensacola, Fla., and Murlee Banks of Memphis; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends; and her best friend, Ondrea “Nadine” Heggie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Gentry.
