BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL — Blue Lights and Banks, an event to benefit Chimes for Charity, is set for Dec. 1 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the Obion County Courthouse on Bill Burnett Circle in downtown Union City. During those hours, residents are asked to bring canned goods, toys or cash donations to the collection site, where representatives from the Union City Police Department, Obion County Sheriff’s Department and local banks will be on hand to accept them. The donations will help less fortunate families across Obion County this Christmas. Making plans for the event are (from left) Bradley Harris of Reelfoot Bank, Clay Billingsley of Bank3, Matt Bird of Simmons Bank, Charles Choate from supporting sponsor KYTN, Chief Deputy Kent Treece of the Obion County Sheriff’s Department, Chief Perry Barfield of the Union City Police Department, Joe Ward of First Citizens National Bank, Jim Bondurant of The Citizens Bank and Tim Shanks of Commercial Bank. Not pictured is a representative of Regions Bank, which is also participating, making for unanimous support from among local banks. Ward, one of the organizers, said there is a particular need for the donation of toys.
