Raymond Rhodes

Raymond Thomas “RT” Rhodes, 67, of Tiptonville passed away on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at his residence.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wynnburg Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chip Davis officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Barnes, Cory Barnes, Josh Barnes, Tom Makin, Norman Rhodes and Demetria Crawford.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1949, in Tiptonville, to the late Cornell Rhodes and the late Edna Rose Jones Rhodes. RT was a retired employee from the Tennessee Department of Corrections. He was a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church and was also a member of the American Legion. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam era. RT was an avid horseman. He could be seen many days riding in the fields near his home. He loved teaching others to ride, especially children. RT attended Lake County High School.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Makin of Tiptonville; two sisters, Suzanne Davis of Wynnburg and Marilyn Barnes (Johnny) of Ridgely; two brothers, David Rhodes and Mark Rhodes, both of Wynnburg; five nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and nephews. Besides his family, he left many cousins and friends who loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wayne and Alice Rhodes and Raymond and Dessie Jones.
