OBSTACLES — Nicholas Lopez, 11, of Union City worked his way through an obstacle maze set up Saturday at the Obion County Public Library children’s department Halloween party. Because of the chilly weather, most of the events were moved indoors. After the party, the public was invited to watch “Hocus Pocus” and enjoy free popcorn and drinks in the meeting room. Lopez is the son of Rayeann and Tito Lopez. Several holiday events have been held by local organizations and churches. Among those scheduled today include trick or treating in downtown Union City, at The Waters in Union City and at The Messenger from 3-5 p.m. and at Silver Trowel Lodge No. 2 F&AM and Bathsheba Chapter 16 Order of Eastern Star in Union City at 4 p.m.; a Candy Corri-doors event at Sunswept Baptist Church in Union City from 5:30-7 p.m.; and a trunk or treat event at First Church of God in Union City from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
