MOTHER TO MOTHER — Obion County native Karen Vaughn (right) took a few moments to speak with Lou Joyner at the Obion County Public Library on Friday afternoon. Mrs. Vaughn, mother of fallen U.S. Navy SEAL Aaron Vaughn, was at the library to sign copies of her book, “World Changer,” which she wrote about raising her three children to make a difference in the world. After Aaron was killed in the Tangi River Valley of Afghanistan on Aug. 6, 2011, Mrs. Vaughn decided to take up her son’s commitment to their nation by becoming a tireless advocate on a national stage for changing the military rules of engagement that place U.S. service members at unnecessary risk. She is married to Billy Vaughn Jr. and, in addition to her oldest child, Aaron, she has raised two daughters, Tara and Ana.
