Carl Richardson

Carl Thomas Richardson “Mr. Carl”, 76, of Union City and Rapid City, S.D., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at 7 p.m. after a short, hard-fought battle with cancer.
Being a modest man, Carl requested no public funeral service.
The family requests donations be made in Carl’s name to First Church of God at 415 South Miles Ave., Union City, TN 38261. Cards may be sent to 1015 North Old Troy Road, Union City, TN 38261.
He was born Oct. 28, 1940, in Hickman, Ky., son of the late Mike and Josephine (Blasingim) Richardson. He married Erika (Angeli) Richardson on Oct. 2, 1961.
He was a member of First Church of God in Union City. He was also a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a MSGT in 1979. He was an entrepreneur and owned businesses in South Dakota, as well as Tennessee.
He loved fishing and cooking. He especially loved sitting in his rocking chair and waving to good friends Patti and George. He was a very caring and compassionate man often putting others’ needs ahead of his own.
He is survived by one son, Michael Richardson of Rapid City; three daughters, Diana (Dan Papka) Hogan of Spearfish, S.D., Arlene (Barry) Krecow of Traverse City, Mich., and Heidi (Brandt) Williams of Sioux Falls, S.D.
Carl was known as “Opa” to his four grandchildren, Shay Hogan, Hunter and Carson Krecow and Judd Williams. They will remember him as a practical joker and a man who loved them very much.
The family would appreciate you leaving a fond memory/story of their father on the guestbook at
