WINNING ENTRY — Harper Dianne Eddlemon, 2, daughter of Austin and Felicia Eddlemon of Kenton, took top honors in the White Squirrel Festival’s Fourth of July Parade on Tuesday morning. Other winners were Marvin Ramey on his Farmall classic tractor and Avery and Ava Davis in a mini white Polaris, which was also decked out in red, white and blue. There were 25 entries in the annual parade, including Gibson County High School’s marching band. Organizer Demetria Spencer told The Messenger the festival’s events went over well, with 15 entries in the car show and 25 vendors and two food trucks selling their wares at Kenton Gym on Saturday; 150 attending Sunday’s community church service; and an estimated 200 playing Bingo, 23 teams signing  up for the cornhole tournament, breakfast prepared for 60 veterans and seven children drawing in the chalk art contest. She said fireworks went off well Tuesday night, despite the threat of rain.
