SERIOUS SHOPPING — Ryleigh Martin, 2-year-old daughter of Cody and Ashley Martin of Union City, arrived at the Obion County Farmers’ Market to help her dad shop for fresh, locally-grown produce. As a bonus, she was treated to a new kids shopping bag and a cup of frozen blueberry yogurt, courtesy of the University of Tennessee Extension’s Farmers’ Market Fresh program. The Market Fresh program is set up to serve the community by offering demonstrations, educational materials and recipes that use the produce residents can purchase right there at the Farmers’ Market. UT Extension agent Benita Griffin will have a booth set up at the Farmers’ Market throughout the summer offering new recipes and demonstrations.
