GET ALARMED — Rives Volunteer Fire Department public education officer Chandra Davis counts and checks a few of the smoke alarms which will be installed Saturday at homes in Rives during a city-wide smoke alarm canvassing effort. During the day, fire service personnel in Rives will be visiting every house in the city and offering to install 10-year sealed battery smoke alarms free of charge. The installations will occur at homes in the community as part of the “Get Alarmed Tennessee” program, a free smoke alarm installation program that has been in place since 2012. The program has saved over 180 lives and “we want to help save even more,” Mrs. Davis said. The canvassing in Rives will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. For more information, contact Mrs. Davis at (731) 592-8164. So far this year, Rives firefighters have given away 80 smoke alarms in their fire district.
