Lena Mae Mort

Lena Mae Mort 97, of Schurz, Nev., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 3, 2017, at Mt. Grant Hospital in Hawthorne, Nev.
Lena was born in Neelyville, Mo., on Sept. 28, 1919, to Dewitt and Edna Beecher Pease. She was the fourth of five children. When she was 6 years old, her mother died and her father married Anna Skelton and the family moved to California where seven more children were born.
She grew up in the San Joaquin Valley in California and that is where she met the love of her life, Ray Mort. They married in 1939 and moved to Fallon, Nev.
In 1957 they moved to Hawthorne, to open a business which they operated together until his death, Aug. 9 1979.
In 2011 at the age 92 after falling at home, she went to make her home with her youngest daughter Darla and her family. She lived there until she became ill and had to go to the hospital.
She leaves behind three daughters and their spouses, George Anne (Jim) Ritter of Fallon, Nev.; Karen (Ronnie) Crabtree of South Fulton and Darla (Randy) Emm of Schurz, Nev.; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Mort of Fallon, Nev.; and two brothers, Arthur Pease of Brentwood, Calif., and Jerry Pease of Gait, Calif.
Surviving grandchildren and their spouses are Jessie (Kimi) Melendy of Fallon; Mickey Ritter of Sacramento, Calif., Marla (Larry) Plecha of Reno, Marvin Mort of Fallon, Lisa (Marty) Nolan of Reno, Lynnaday Mort of Fallon, Ronald (Machelle) Crabtree of Gadsden, Ala., Jason (Marla) Crabtree of South Fulton, Staci Emm of Schurz, Kari Emm of Reno and Sandi Emm of Reno; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Lena was preceded in death by her son, Dale Mort; a great-granddaughter, Gina Plecha; her brothers, Ralph, Ramond, Tommy, Gene and Robert; and her sisters, Alma, Helen, Juanita and Lucille.
Services were held at First Baptist Church in Hawthorne on April 10, 2017.
Burial followed services at the Fallon Cemetery.
