Delbert Ogden

Delbert Ogden, 85, passed away on March 12, 2017, at his daughter’s home, surrounded by loved ones, in Merrillville, Ind.
Delbert was born Aug. 22, 1931, in Hickman, Ky., to the late Finis Bowden Ogden and the late Vera Mae (Howard) Ogden.
Delbert married the former Carrie Stanley March 8, 1952. He worked for American Bridge and retired in 1983. After retirement, Delbert and Carrie resided in Florida, where they enjoyed fishing and spending time with their son and his family. Delbert  then moved back to Tennessee and was a member and pastor (2000-2015) of Perfect Faith Tabernacle in Troy. He enjoyed traveling with his wife after retirement, being with his children and grandchildren and serving the Lord. Delbert was a carpenter and loved being with his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Ogden; his sisters, Evelyn, Carnice, Alta and Omega; his brothers, Theodore and Raymond; and his granddaughter, Kimmy.
Delbert is survived by his children, Deborah (Charles) Burke of Merrillville Ind., Sandra (Dorris) Rowlett of Buchannan, Wayne Ogden of Tequesta Fla., John (Patty) Ogden of Homewood Ill., and Melinda (Larry) Verdusco of Lake Station Ind.; his siblings, Thelbert (Norma) Ogden of Union City, Winnie Johnson of Newbern and Bernice Long of Paris; and his grandchildren. He also has many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with  Bro. George Moore officiating, Pastor of Perfect Faith Tabernacle in Troy. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.
A visitation will be held Friday from 4:30-8 p.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Ogden, Michael Long, Lynn Ogden, Brian Speed, Chris Smith, David Ogden, Teddy Ogden and Roscoe Roberson.
