HICKMAN HIT — Crews continued to work to restore power about 7:30 this morning at the intersection of Highway 125 (the Union City Highway) and the bypass (Seventh Street) in Hickman, Ky., in the aftermath of high winds and a possible tornado that blew through the river city during a  severe thunderstorm about 8:40 p.m. Thursday. The hardest hit area was along Highway 125, where significant damage occurred at the Little General Store (background), the Fulton County (Ky.) Detention Center and Fulton County dispatch. Numerous homes, several businesses and a cemetery were also damaged, but, as of press time, no injuries or deaths have been reported. The National Weather Service should arrive today to make official determination of the classification of the weather event and whether it was a tornado.
