‘Jim’ Armbruster

James “Jim” Armbruster, 89, of Murray, Ky., formerly of this area and brother-in-law of Dr. Robert Young of Union City, died Aug. 21, 2013, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Revs. Jim Spahler and Bob Saywell officiating.
Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis and Wounded Warriors.
Pallbearers will be Allen LeCornu, Lynn Ray Armbruster, Tripp Young, Brent Young, Jody Lawrence, Matthew Armbruster and Kenneth Bolton.
He was born Jan. 12, 1924, in South Fulton, son of the late Lara and Ava Lee (Brown) Armbruster. He married Margie Louise (Young) Armbruster June 24, 1945. She survives. A World War II veteran of Army Air Corps, he flew B-17s in the 398th bomb group in the European Theater. He was also a veteran of the Korean War, where he was a member of the artillery brigade. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Murray, Ky., for 54 years and the Roberts Masonic Lodge in Fulton.
Survivors also include his son, Dr. James Ivan Armbruster II and his wife, Patricia, of Sterling, Colo.; his granddaughter and her husband, Mya and Ken Baca of Denver; his grandson, Matthew Armbruster of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Lee Green and Marion LeCornu; and his brother, Howard Armbruster.
