Mary Sledge

Mary Frances Sledge, 96, of Hot Springs, Ark., and a former resident of Tiptonville, died Aug. 18, 2013, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tiptonville City Cemetery, with Max Whitfield officiating.
Visitation will be held at Tiptonville First United Methodist Church from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Dyersburg, daughter of the late Walter Henning and Lillian (Bucks) Henning. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tiptonville, Christ United Methodist Church in Memphis, Tiptonville Women’s Club and 19th Century Club of Memphis. She was an avid Bridge player.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Mayo Powell of Hot Springs and Valerie and Max Whitfield of Richardson, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Marsha Vaughn of Jackson; three granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; two stepchildren and their spouses, Martha and Johnny Young of Pensacola, Fla.; and Charles and Judy Sledge of Cantonment, Fla.; and her sister-in-law, Geneva Vaughn of Tiptonville.
She was preceded in death by her son, John E. Vaughn III; and two husbands, J.E. Vaughn Jr. and Norfleet Sledge.
